Belhurst Castle and Winery’s Commitment to Accessibility

Belhurst Castle and Winery is dedicated to providing an equivalent experience for our guests with the same access to our products and services, including through an accessible website. To uphold our commitment, we adhere to the Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 level AA) in the design and development of your digital experience though our website. This helps ensure that we’re providing content that is available to all, regardless of physical or cognitive ability.

Hotel Common Areas

As part of our ongoing effort to accommodate those with disabilities, the following is a summary of
common areas of Belhurst Castle and Winery and their accessible features:

  • Public Entrance – Our public entrance is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot. There is a wide cement walkway that leads to two sets of double-wide doors. The first set of double-wide doors are straight ahead and lead directly to the Winery and Gift Shop. The second set of doublewide doors to the right lead to the Hotel Front Desk which is where the Belhurst Castle Chambers
    Hotel, Vinifera Inn, Stonecutters Tavern, Edgar’s Restaurant in the Castle, Isabella Spa-Salon and Castle Ballroom are located. The public entrance does not have automatic handicap doors.
  • Parking – Belhurst Castle and Winery has numerous handicap parking spots available to customers. However, it does not have parking spots that are larger than a typical handicap spot that is specifically designed for accessible vans.
  • Route from the Public Entrance to the Hotel Front Desk – Our public entrance is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot. There is a wide cement walkway that leads to two sets of double-wide doors. The doors on the right lead to the Hotel Front Desk. After entering through a second set of double-wide doors is the Hotel Lobby. This area has public restrooms, a small sofa and four
    chairs for guests, a coffee area and then the front desk for check-in/check-out. Our Hotel front desk area is one level and does not have any stairs.
  • Route from the Public Entrance to the Accessible Guestrooms – Our two Accessible Guestrooms are located in our Vinifera Inn. Our public entrance is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot. There is a wide cement walkway that leads to two sets of double-wide doors. The doors on the right lead to the Hotel Front Desk. After entering through a second set of double-wide doors is
    the Hotel Lobby. If standing at the Hotel Front Desk, behind you to the right is an elevator which leads to the Vinifera Inn where our two accessible guest rooms are located – Room #204, located on the second floor and Room #304, located on the third floor. When exiting the elevator on the second floor, there is a small sitting area with a table and two sofa chairs. Room #204 is straight ahead past the sitting area and is four doors down on the right-hand side. When exiting the elevator on the third floor, there is an identical small sitting area with a table and two sofa chairs.   • Route from the Public Entrance to Stonecutters Tavern – Our public entrance is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot. There is a wide cement walkway that leads to two sets of double-wide doors. The doors on the right lead to the Hotel Front Desk. After entering through a second set of double-wide doors is the Hotel Lobby. If standing at the Hotel Front Desk, Stonecutters Tavern and Lounge is 44 feet to the right. The entrance to Stonecutters Tavern and Lounge is wheelchair accessible and is all one level. This restaurant has eight tables with two to five chairs around each. There is a sunken bar that guests can sit at as well that has 14 chairs on rollers. Outdoor seating is weather permitting and can be accessed through a doorway with a 35-inch opening. The outdoor patio has five tables and, in the center, has a large fire pit with Adirondack chairs around it. The doors that lead into Stonecutters Tavern and Lounge are not automatic handicap doors.
  • Route from the Public Entrance to Edgar’s Restaurant in the Castle – Our public entrance is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot. There is a wide cement walkway that leads to two sets of double-wide doors. The doors on the right lead to the Hotel Front Desk. After entering through a second set of double-wide doors is the Hotel Lobby. If standing at the Hotel Front Desk, Edgar’s Restaurant in the Castle is 116 feet to the right and is wheelchair accessible via a hallway that leads to a ramp. That area also includes a hostess stand with two chairs for guests to sit. After accessing the ramp, you’ll be positioned at the entrance of Edgar’s Restaurant in the Castle in the Grand Hall. Directly to your right is Edgar’s Bar that includes four tables and five high-top chairs at the bar. Directly to your left is the Library, which has a large table that seats 12 guests and two smaller tables that seat two guests each. If you continue forward through the Grand Hall, the Center Room is on your left which has four tables. On your right is an original
    fireplace to the Castle as well as a grand staircase to access the 11 guest rooms in the Chambers in the Castle. The Chambers in the Castle is not ADA accessible and does not have an elevator. It was built in the late 1800s. Back in the Grand Hall at the end, a piano is to the left and the Music Room is directly in front of you with the Solarium directly behind the Music Room. The Music Room holds five tables and the Solarium holds nine tables. To the left of the end of the Grand Hall is a small hallway that leads to the Parlor which is on the right and the Porch which is directly in front of you. The Parlor has six tables and The Porch has 11 tables. The Porch is not wheelchair accessible, as there is a three-inch step down to The Porch. A small Veranda can be accessed through a doorway off the Porch, but is not wheelchair accessible, as there is a seven-inch step down to the Veranda.
  • Route from the Public Entrance to the Winery & Gift Shop – Our public entrance is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot. There is a wide cement walkway that leads to two sets of doublewide doors. The first set of double-wide doors are straight ahead and lead directly to the Winery and Gift Shop. After entering through a second set of double-wide doors is the Wine and Gift
    Shop. The Winery and Gift Shop entrance does not have automatic handicap doors. Inside, the Winery and Gift Shop is all one level. There are various displays of wine, gifts, food items, etc., and a staff member would be more than happy to help you navigate if in a wheelchair. The two tasting bars are not wheelchair height, but our staff would again be more than happy to assist. At the back of the Wine & Gift Shop is a double-wide door that leads to a small patio. There are five high-top tables and stools which are not wheelchair accessible.
  • Route from the Public Entrance to the Castle Ballroom – Our public entrance is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot. There is a wide cement walkway that leads to two sets of double-wide doors. The doors on the right lead to the Hotel Front Desk. After entering through a second set of double-wide doors is the Hotel Lobby. If standing at the Hotel Front Desk, the Castle Ballroom
    is 219 feet to the right and you have to go through Edgar’s Restaurant in the Castle to get to the Ballroom entrance. The Ballroom entrance is wheelchair accessible and is located in the right corner of the Grand Hall. There is a hallway that leads to a set of double-wide doors via a ramp that lead you into the Castle Ballroom. There is a men’s and women’s restroom that are wheelchair accessible to get to, however are not handicap accessible inside.
  • Route from the Public Entrance to the Meritage Ballroom – Our public entrance is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot. There is a wide cement walkway that leads to two sets of doublewide doors. To the left of the main entrance is the Meritage Ballroom. The set of double doors lead to a stairway that is not wheelchair accessible. There is a separate wheelchair accessible
    entrance located on the side of the Meritage Ballroom that can be accessed from the parking lot and up a short ramp. There is a men’s and women’s restroom that are wheelchair accessible to get to, however are not handicap accessible inside.
  • Route from the Public Entrance to Isabella Spa-Salon – Our public entrance is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot. There is a wide cement walkway that leads to two sets of double-wide doors. The doors on the right lead to the Hotel Front Desk. After entering through a second set of double-wide doors is the Hotel Lobby. Isabella Spa-Salon is directly in front of you when you
    enter through that set of double-wide doors. The first floor of Isabella Spa-Salon is wheelchair accessible. The second floor is not wheelchair accessible and is accessed via two flights of stairs. The first floor has five hair stations and two manicure and pedicure chairs. Isabella Spa-Salon has a reception desk on your right-hand side when entering.
  • Hotel Front Desk – The Hotel Front Desk registration area has public restrooms, a small soft and four chairs for guests as well as a coffee station. Our Hotel front desk area is one level and does not have any stairs.
  • Stonecutters Tavern and Edgar’s Restaurant in the Castle – The entrance to Stonecutters Tavern and Lounge is wheelchair accessible and is all one level. Edgar’s Restaurant in the Castle is wheelchair accessible via a hallway that leads to a ramp. That area also includes a hostess stand with two chairs for guests to sit. After accessing the ramp, you’ll be positioned at the entrance of
    Edgar’s Restaurant in the Castle in the Grand Hall.

Guest Rooms

All of our guest rooms’ televisions have closed captioning. Belhurst Castle and Winery does not have a TTY for guest use. However, Belhurst Castle has rooms with additional ADA accessible features that it holds for use by individuals with disabilities until all other guest rooms of that type have been rented.
