About Carmen Brennan-Bain

Born and raised in Aschaffenburg, Germany, Carmen Brennan-Bain attended school there, including the University of Maryland at the Munich, Germany campus. Her first day on the job at Belhurst was as a food busser in 1988, only two weeks after moving to Geneva, NY. Many customers, stories and memories later, she works with customers, brides and grooms on a daily basis as Belhurst’s Events Coordinator. As for her own love story? Carmen and her husband, Bill have been together for 18 years and balances her work and personal life effortlessly. She’s known as Belhurst’s “Mother Hen” aka Momma Carm. When it comes to her job, she loves getting to know the couples and their families during the planning stages and helping create their “big day.” She’s seen it all – from “I have no clue what to do,” to then watch it all unfold as they walk down the aisle from the Castle. And she’s ALWAYS there to watch and assist as they walk down the aisle (she wouldn’t miss that part for the world!) She’s had the priviledge of coordinating 2,700 weddings since 2000, when she was given the position. Carmen loves being outdoors walking, hiking and enjoying the lake with her husband and two pups.

About Sharon Thomas

Sharon Thomas was raised in Penn Yan, NY and lives there today with her husband of 18 years, Keith and their 16 year old daughter Emilie. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy and received her Bachelors of Science degree in Marketing from Keuka College. Before taking on the Assistant Events Coordinator position at Belhurst, Sharon worked in the radio industry for 22 years as both an on-air personality for two local radio stations and as a marketing consultant/radio sales executive to local Finger Lakes area businesses. She loves spending time with her family and enjoys camping, going to country music concerts with her daughter and watching her high school bowling matches. Sharon is even on a bowling league! She’s extremely excited about her new role as Assistant Events Coordinator and the opportunity to help brides and grooms and their families celebrate one of the most special days of their lives at one of the most beautiful places in the Finger Lakes.

About Darlene Smith

Darlene Smith moved from Philadelphia, PA to Geneva, NY over 40 years ago and lives on the West side of Seneca Lake. She’s been at Belhurst since 2013 as a restaurant server in Edgar’s Steakhouse. In her new role, Darlene manages custom events in Edgar’s Steakhouse – from small weddigs and parties to business meetings and group functions. A true hobbyist, you can find her gardening, hiking, kayaking traveling, playing tennis or crafting in her free time. Darlene is a people person – and loves those she works with and for. The most important part of her job is making a customers event as magical as Belhurst Castle itself.

About Marilyn Palmer

Marilyn Palmer is from Honeoye Falls, NY and earned an Associate’s degree in Retail Business Manager from Alfred State College. She’s been a Belhurst employee since 1992 and came in with Mr. Reeder when he purchased Belhurst Castle. Ask Marilyn what she loves most about her job? Besides the title of Business Manager, she’s been given the opportunity to do many things that she never would have imagined! Like helping turn White Springs Manor into 13 guest rooms to designing the layout and furnishing the start of Belhurst Winery & Gift Shop, she’s always thinking outside of the box! Marilyn and her husband have three boys, and she was definitely outnumbered. But now her family has grown and the females have taken over the Palmer family which includes being a grandmother to three beautiful granddaughters. And it’s true…she said being a grandmother is the BEST!

About Carly Morabito

Carly Morabito was born in Rochester, NY and has been at Belhurst since 2017. She attended the State University of New York at Fredonia, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations with a minor in Business Administration. Her and her husband chose Belhurst as their wedding venue in the spring of 2016, and then applied and got the Marketing Manager position at Belhurst just eight months later. A balancing act of planning her wedding with the Events Coordinator and learning the ropes of her position, you could say she would eat, sleep and dream anything and everything Belhurst. She had her reception at Belhurst in August 2017, and the rest is history. Carly loves the different aspects of her job – each day is insanely different. She loves spending time with family and friends, and will be in for yet another busy Summer, as her and her husband are expecting their first child in July 2018.

About Scott Mackey

Scott Mackey started at Belhurst in 2017 as a front desk representative and was promoted to Assistant Lodging Manager in early 2018, and later Lodging Manager in April 2018. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, he now lives in Bellona, NY. He attended Andrews University in Michigan and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. In his free time, he loves to go antiquing and makes countless trips to flee markets, garage sales and auctions. Ask him about some of his favorite finds! His favorite part about his job is that he loves meeting new people that come to Belhurst every day. He’s another front desk staff member that you may talk to when making a lodging reservation – and he’s always smiling from ear to ear and lights up whenever he talks to you – he claims he’s the lucky one!

Justin Doyle was hired as Belhurst's Assistant Lodging Manager in 2018. Originally from Waterloo, NY, he attended the University of Rochester where he obtained his Bachelor's of Applied Sciences. Previously, Justin was the Manager at Burger King. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children and occasionally gets a "break" and loves to watch sports!

Born and raised in Geneva, NY John Zugec is a proud resident still to this day. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Plymouth State College. John has worked at Belhurst as Maintenance Manager since 2015. Named Belhurst’s “Mr. Fix It,” John’s handy-man qualities and teddy-bear personality make him one-of-a-kind. His favorite part of the job? He loves watching guests and customers smile for photos on the beautiful grounds he works hard at making sure are perfect year-round.

About Ellen Reeder

Ellen Reeder graduated from St. Lawrence University with teaching certification and then had an exciting opportunity to go into retail, working through a one year retail management training program. She then became a store manager for VonMaur's Department Store. A few years later, after becoming a mother, Ellen received her group and personal fitness certification and taught various individual and group fitness classes. She lived in Italy for 10 years with four of her children and upon return to the U.S, went back to teaching high school Social Studies until she became the Spa Manager of Isabella Spa-Salon. Ellen worked in that position for three and a half years, and then took on the role of Spa Director in 2017. Ellen loves meeting and talking to new customers that come to Isabella Spa-Salon on their wedding day, a girls weekend or just for a routine cut and color, or spa service!

Originally from Newark, NY Kate Antonucci-Austin now calls Geneva, NY home. As a proud graduate of Nazareth College in Rochester, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Kate has been a licensed cosmetologist for 9 years and graduated from Shear Ego International School of Hair Design. Kate has been at Belhurst since 2016 and became Manager of Isabella Spa-Salon in 2017. She’s a mother to two young girls and loves to spend time with them outdoors and travel. Kate loves doing makeup, specifically bridal makeup at Belhurst. Her favorite part about her job is working with brides and making them feel special and beautiful on their big day.

About Matthew Warren

Matt Warren is from Penn Yan, NY and has worked at Belhurst since 2008. He was promoted to Dining Manager in 2016. For someone that spends most of his time managing Edgar’s Steakhouse and Stonecutters Restaurant at Belhurst, in his (occasional) free time, Matt likes being outdoors – he even mows his lawn twice a week in the Summer months, whether it needs it or not. He enjoys seeing excitement and joy on the guests faces that come to Belhurst after a great dining experience, it’s what keeps him going.

About Brad Stoddard

Brad Stoddard is the Executive Chef at Belhurst, but started from humble beginnings as a dishwasher at a young age. One thing was for sure – he knew he wanted to cook. And cook he did. Brad went to Midlakes High School and graduated from Finger Lakes Community College with a degree in Culinary Arts. He’s been at Belhurst since 2014 and started as a Sous Chef before he was promoted to Executive Chef in 2017. In his spare time (when he’s not working the long hours that an Executive Chef position demands,) he loves being outdoors hiking, running and taking the family dog for walks with his wife and children. He loves being Executive Chef. His favorite part of the job? The moment in a chefs eyes when the have created something they are truly proud of and the emotion from a guest that expresses how truly wonderful their experience was makes it all worthwhile.

Born and raised in Savannah, NY Lisa McCartney can remember helping her grandmother and mother in the kitchen at a young age. From there, the rest is history. She pursed her culinary dream working in various restaurants throughout high school which led to studying culinary at BOCES and later at Paul Smith College where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts and Service Management. She’s been at Belhurst since 2016, and started as a line cook for Stonecutters restaurant and was later promoted to Banquet Chef. She loves to see the expressions and reactions from guests when presented a meal and loves working as part of a team in the kitchen to provide the best experience for guests. Lisa enjoys spending time with family, hunting and snacking on donuts and sugary treats (this chef’s got a major sweet tooth!)

Originally from the small town of Ogdensburg, NY located on the Saint Lawrence River, Morgan Murray graduated from William Smith College in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, International Relations and Biology. She now calls what was once her college town home. Morgan has worked at Belhurst since 2012. She’s quite the world traveler – her passport is filled with trips to Ireland, Spain, France, Hungary and Romania. In her role as Bar Manager/Assistant Dining Manager and Pairing Specialist, she loves the people that come to Belhurst. Each day brings new faces, stories and memories and she enjoys sharing Belhurst’s history with guests. She loves to make people fall in love with a dish or ingrident they thought they’d never try. As a brand new home-owner, Morgan can’t wait to roll up her sleeves and get to work on renovating her her house.

About Kristine Fiorilla

Kristine Fiorilla has been at Belhurst since 2006 and has run the Winery & Gift Shop since 2007. She graduated from the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale with a degree in Advertising and Marketing and then went on for a secondary degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she majored in Visual Merchandising and Design. Kristine worked for high-end restaurants throughout school, and became a retail gift buyer after graduation. After experiencing 9/11 in New York City, it was time to come home to Geneva. Kristine has a staff of knowledgeable wine shop associates who help her make the shop run, and to her; they are her extended family. She says she has two babies in her life. One is her son, Fares and the other? You guessed it! The Wine & Gift Shop.
