GENEVA, NEW YORK — Belhurst Winery president Mr. Duane Reeder proudly announces the winning of four wine competition medals from the 2008 3rd Annual Golden Nose Award: A Finger Lakes Wine Experience. The winners are: a gold medal for Golden Pheasant 2007, a silver medal for Belhurst Cayuga 2006, and bronze medals for the Belhurst Dry Riesling 2006 and Belhurst Pinot Noir, 2006. Belhurst Winery has now won 61 Wine Competition Medals.

The competition, which took place at the Corning Museum of Glass, is held specifically as a competition between Finger Lakes wineries. The judges are wine lovers and consumers in the region who learn the fine craft of judging wines from winemakers and professional wine judges. This year, in excess of 290 wine entries were sampled by the judges.

The gold medal winning, Golden Pheasant, a Seyval Chardonnay blend, is named after the Golden Pheasants which once graced the lawns of Belhurst over 100 years ago. The Golden Pheasant is available in the Belhurst Wine & Gift Shop for $16.95.

The silver medal winning, Belhurst Cayuga 2006 has now won four wine competition medals, is one of Belhurst’s best selling wines and available for $14.95. The bronze winning Belhurst Dry Riesling, $18.95, and Belhurst Pinot Noir, $21.95, are also summer favorites available only at Belhurst.

With a unique winery philosophy, the Belhurst Winery includes a committee of experts who carefully seek fruit, vineyards, wine varieties and winemakers who will contribute to the palette of wines sold by Belhurst.  The committee continually collaborates with area winemakers to produce consistently high quality wines which quickly become Finger Lakes favorites. All Belhurst wines are available for tasting and purchase in the Belhurst Wine & Gift Shop on the shores of Seneca Lake, and for purchase on our website at www.Belhurst.com.

Known for its charm, unique architecture, and stunning lake views, the Belhurst properties include Belhurst Castle, originally built in 1885; White Springs Manor, originally built around 1900; and The Vinifera Inn which opened in 2004.
